Choose refurbishment over extensions.

In 2017, a creative couple enlisted Outpost to reimagine the interior of their newly purchased period home, untouched for many years. Initially, the plan focused on extending the rear kitchen and exploring options for an infill extension. However, as financial considerations came into play, the approach shifted. Instead of large extensions, the project pivoted towards upgrading and enhancing the existing spaces, breathing new life into the home.

The entire house was refreshed with vibrant colour. We designed a beautifully crafted family bathroom, a bespoke kitchen with tailored windows and doors opening to the garden, and custom shelving to showcase the client’s extensive book collection—all while working within the existing footprint. The result is a seamless blend of the home’s original charm and modern upgrades.

Through thoughtful, creative interventions, the house was transformed with a fresh aesthetic. The careful balance of colour, material choices, and craftsmanship brought warmth and personality to each room. By focusing on quality upgrades over expansion, we created a renewed environment that met the couple’s needs while preserving and enhancing the character of this period property.
