Project Update
The lime rendering is transforming the Nissen Hut project beautifully. We’ve used reed board as permanent shuttering for the hemp insulation, followed by lime rendering. The reed board, which bends in one direction, provides additional insulation and creates a natural key for the lime to adhere to.
The walls are divided into panels with movement joints to accommodate the building’s natural expansion and contraction. The lime finish not only enhances the structure’s durability but also elevates its aesthetics. Its soft, off-white tone transforms the light within the space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. When light strikes at an oblique angle, the sponged finish reveals a subtle shimmer as the lime’s natural fats rise to the surface, adding a delicate, tactile quality to the walls.
