Anyone who has actively participated in constructing a building for themselves or their community understands the transformative power of agency. Much of our built environment is often handed to us fully formed, with little opportunity for personal involvement or effort. Yet, by engaging in the process of design and construction, individuals and communities can form a deeper connection to a project, fostering a greater sense of personal investment, enjoyment, and commitment to its success.

As a practice, we prioritise low-tech, low-impact building materials and techniques. These approaches not only minimise environmental impact but also encourage individual or community participation in the building process. In some cases, we facilitate training courses through our projects, empowering people to contribute meaningfully and develop valuable skills. By embracing agency, we aim to create buildings that are not only sustainable but also deeply rooted in the people and communities they serve.
