We are proud to have secured Listed Building Consent for sensitive alterations and key refurbishment works to Housden House, one of London’s great post-war Modernist homes. Designed and built by architect Brian Housden between 1963-65, this Grade-II listed masterpiece was recognised by Historic England in 2014 for its “completely unique architectural vision” that synthesises European modernism influences with a deeply personal intensity and conviction.

Preserved in near-original condition, the house demonstrates parallels with icons like the Rietveld Schröder House and Maison de Verre, yet retains a distinct and innovative character that is quintessentially Housden’s.

Our proposed alterations honour this rich architectural heritage while adapting the interiors to suit a new five-person family. The design enhances the home’s existing language with bespoke fitted joinery, maximising space and creating a serene, organised environment. Key features, like the redesigned kitchen, integrate seamlessly into the original footprint. A concealed pantry behind obscured glass offers expanded functionality, housing additional ovens, worktops, sinks, and storage—balancing practicality with modern elegance.

This project exemplifies our commitment to respecting historical integrity while delivering thoughtful, contemporary solutions tailored to our clients’ needs.
